Industry Associations

Trade associations establish the standards that are used by storage industry partners to develop and manufacture products that are compatible and interoperable.

As the pioneer of SSD Processors, the level of commitment by SandForce to partner and trade associations includes writing specifications, voting on new standards, and participating in vendor “plugfests” to assure compliance with, and advancing the adoption of SSDs, emerging flash memory technologies, and host interface standards.

IEEE SA

The IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA) is a major contributor to IEEE, the world's largest technical professional society. The IEEE-SA promotes the engineering process by creating, developing, integrating, sharing, and applying knowledge about electro- and information technologies and sciences.

JEDEC

Joint Electron Devices Engineering Council (JEDEC) is the standards resource for the world semiconductor industry with more than 300 companies working in 50 Committees.

SandForce is a member of JC-11, JC-14, JC-42, JC-63 and JC64, and is contributing to JC-64.8 where a number of SSD standards are developed and integrated into SandForce SSD Processors.

ONFi

Open NAND Flash Interface (ONFI) is an industry Workgroup with more than 80 companies that build, design-in, or enable NAND Flash memory.

SandForce SSD Processors support open interface standards that are compatible and interoperable with SLC and MLC flash devices from numerous suppliers.

PCI-SIG

Peripheral Component Interconnect Special Interest Group (PCI-SIG) is an organization of 800 member companies committed to the development of and enhancement of the PCI standard.

SandForce monitors development of the PCI Express specification.

SATA IO

Serial ATA International Organization (SATA-IO) is the group of 250 companies responsible for developing, managing, and driving adoption of SATA specifications.

SandForce SSD Processors are complaint with the latest Serial ATA specifications.

SATA IO

SCSI Trade Association (STA) was formed in 1996 to promote the use and understanding of small computer system interface ("SCSI") parallel interface technology.

SNIA

Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) is made up of some 400 member companies spanning the global storage market, the SNIA connects the IT industry with end-to-end storage and information management solutions.

SandForce is an active member of the Solid State Storage Technical Working Group where performance benchmarking standards are being developed for solid state drives.

SPC

The Storage Performance Council (SPC) is a non-profit corporation founded to define, standardize, and promote storage subsystem benchmarks as well as to disseminate objective, verifiable performance data to the computer industry and its customers.

SandForce is an active SPC associate member and participates in the SPC's activities.

TCG

The Trusted Computing Group (TCG) is an international industry standards group. The TCG develops specifications amongst it members. Upon completion, the TCG publishes the specifications for use and implementation by the industry.
